Hello Pocock Parents!
A few updates and announcements:
1. Please go to Pocock Rowing Center Facebook page for updates on Brentwood results and pictures. Also the website http://regatta.brentwood.bc.ca/
has photos and other information.
I think that by now everyone knows that the PRC had the best showing we have ever had – truly impressive effort from all of our rowers.
2. Next regatta is Nw Regionals. We are having a meeting about this next Tuesday at 6:30 at the Boathouse. Please plan to attend. So you may be prepared, we leave Thursday May 17 after school and travel to Vancouver. We stay at the Heathman Hotel and all of the kids rooms have been arranged. Parents need to make their own reservations and transportation arrangements. We come back home on Sunday May 20 and are usually back at Pocock by 6 pm. All athletes are expected to ride to and from the regatta in the team vans unless permission is granted from Matt Lacey by May 15.
3. If you would like to volunteer to drive a van of rowers to and from Vancouver, please let me know. You would also be responsible for driving them to the course everyday in the morning and to dinner. I have done this job for three years and it is actually fun and very insightful J!
4. We also need people with large vehicles to carry luggage down on Thursday evening and come back with it on Sunday. If you want to do wither of these jobs, please respond back. Thank you!
5. One more request – we also need two people to head down Thursday morning to help set up the food tents. Again please respond back if you are interested in helping out.
6. The end of year banquet will be Wednesday May 23rd. The venue is the lovely 415 Westlake. An evite will be going out soon and there will be a sign up sheet for what you would like to bring. The choices are Protein that can be served at room temp and is sliced and ready to go, grain such as quinoa, rice, potato, vegetable such as salad or roast vegetable and dessert.
7. We’re getting to that point in the year where your friends, family, neighbors & co-workers are signing up their kids for summer activities. Please take this opportunity to get some more kids involved in Pocock Rowing! The summer camps are easier than ever to work into a busy summer schedule (2 week sections), they’re still inexpensive and most importantly – a terrific amount of fun. These camps are the most impactful recruiting tools we have to keep the PRC team numbers healthy, so please SPREAD THE WORD!

8. A note from Hang Yee, food tent coordinator.
Pocock people rock! Many thanks to everyone who helped organize, pack, unpack, load, unload, set up, take down, bake, purchase, prep, cook, serve, clean, transport, and whatever else was needed to get it done. You are all aces in my book, but I have to give a special mention to those who kept me propped up.
Right Hands – Molly LaPatra and Michael Daly
Couldn't Do Without – Mari Munday and John Grant
Morning Stars (and evenings too) – Peggy-Paige and Peter Most
Outstanding Members of the Brigade de Cuisine – Jay Borseth, Robin Clark and Jay Thomas
And, of course, our fearless leader, Kathleen Brown, Lisa Van Kampen (also outstanding in the kitchen) and Daren Nitz, the best van driver north of Seattle.
And a special thanks to Cristi L Rowbotham for that delicious hot cocoa!
Thank you all! I had a blast!
Thanks, Liz
